Wendel B. Silva is a Computer Scientist for the Kavli HUMAN Project, specializing in big data systems and interactive large-scale visualizations. His research focuses on interactive computer graphics and solutions for mobile devices. Before joining the KHP team, Wendel participated in various internship programs at Kitware Inc., Argonne National Laboratory, and the New York University (NYU) Center for Urban Science and Progress. During this internship period, he worked with a wide range of technologies that included information and scientific visualization on the web; large-scale visualization and parallel programming; development of a management and visualization system for tiled displays; data processing, cleansing and wrangling. Wendel received a B.A. in Computer Science and a M.A. in Applied Informatics from the University of Fortaleza in Brazil. After migrating to New York, Wendel obtained a M.A. in Computer Science from NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering.
